Governor Information and Attendance Overview 2018/19

Peter Windram

Mr Windram (462x640)

I am a long-serving Crooksbarn School governor having originally joined in 2002. I joined the governing body as a community governor and my motivation for becoming a governor was two-fold. At the time my daughter attended the school and I was keen to get more involved in the life of the school. Secondly I work for the Department for Education and at that time I was working on school governance issues, so there was the incentive to see what happens on the chalk face and be involved more directly.

I try to play an active part in school life, not always an easy balancing act when work responsibilities get in the way, and I take part in school trips, attending Robin Wood etc. I’m still working for the Department (31 years) but I’m engaged now on school workforce matters as a policy official. I consider that the experience I can bring to meetings around how central Government works provides a helpful insight to the governing body and the staff at Crooksbarn.

Helen Webb

Mrs Webb (470x640)

I have been a parent governor since October 2011 and have one daughter in KS2 and one who has just moved onto secondary school. I have therefore had experience of Crooksbarn from Nursery to Year 6. I try to get into school as much as possible and enjoy being involved in the day-to-day life of the school. I am the link governor for English and Safeguarding and regularly meet staff to develop and update my knowledge of these areas.

I work part-time as a speech and language therapist and work with children of all ages. I work in a range of mainstream schools, which gives me an extra insight into some of the issues that face schools.

I am the Deputy Head at Crooksbarn Primary School and currently teach in the Year 5 and 6 Team. I lead English throughout the school which forms a major part of my role. I am also one of the Safeguarding officers, alongside Mr Twiby and lead and support the Teaching Assistants in their roles. I have worked at Crooksbarn since September 2000 and have seen many positive changes come about. I enjoy being a governor and sharing what we do in school and hope it helps non-teaching governors to understand our role.

Chris Twiby

I am the Headteacher and I have been at Crooksbarn since January 2010. I am the Designated Safeguarding Officer and also our E-Safety Officer. I have been teaching for almost 21 years in a variety of settings and before I came to Crooksbarn, I worked in Middlesbrough, having started my career in Manchester. I do not have a typical working day; my job can be extremely varied. Each day is different and could involve taking assembly, meeting with parents, observing lessons, looking at work, talking to children or sorting out the budget.

As a parent I am eager to support Crooksbarn. I have spent a lot of time helping within the classrooms and feel this insight helps me have a better understanding of some of the issues faced within the school. I am a member of the CPFA and enjoy helping to organise events and fundraising activities. As a Parent Governor I am keen to help maintain the high standards of education and contribute to making improvements for the future.
